TFA Speaker Event - Sept 12: Featuring Pat Rand, FAIA, DPACSA, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Architecture at NC State University. Pat was a Fulbright Scholar in Finland, teaching and carrying out research for six months at Aalto University in Dipoli, near Helsinki. This brief presentation summarizes his observations of the Finnish culture and explores how Finnish design and craft continues to be a model for how we should design our buildings and cities. Itsenäisyyspäivä Party - Dec 6: Our annual observance of Itsenäisyyspäivä (Finnish Independence Day). TFA provides the entrees, side dishes, drinks, glögi and champagne, with potluck-style desserts from attendees. We celebrate with some history on Finland and Independence, a champagne toast, and a visit from Joulupukki!
