About the Triangle Finnish Association
The Triangle Finnish Association (TFA) is a social and cultural club bringing together Finns, Finnish-Americans, and Friends of Finland in the Triangle area of North Carolina. Our mission is to foster fellowship within the Finnish-American community and encouraging interest in Finland and Finnish culture in our local communities. TFA began informally in 1980, when Annikki Giggins gathered fellow Finns in the Raleigh area for an Independence Day celebration at her home. As these gatherings grew in size each year, the club was officially established in 1991, adopting the name Triangle Finnish Association, electing board members, and organizing formal events.
What We Do
Over the past several years TFA has built a strong Finnish presence in the Triangle area by organizing and celebrating various cultural events, including Independence Day, Laskiainen (Shrove Tuesday), and Juhannus (Midsummer Day), Vappu, Piirakka Party and other lively community gatherings.
A Growing Community
In 2024, TFA became a proud member of the Finlandia Foundation National, further strengthening our ability to develop and expand the Finnish community in the region.
Get Involved
While all meetings and events are open to all the members, TFA has a Board to oversee operations, manage communications, and organize events. TFA offers a welcoming space to connect, celebrate, and create lasting memories with a warm and friendly community! We invite you to join us in celebrating Finnish heritage, traditions, and friendship - whether you have Finnish roots or simply a love for Finnish culture!
